TOMATO JAM

November 6th 2018, Ca’ Sana Ristorante Biologico

Held in Ca’Sana organic restaurant Tomato Jam was a 12-hours co-working project in which local farmers designed a co-farming service prototype based on tomato transformation. Tomato can be the first product that can build a smart system to develop Italian territories and farmers’ know-how.

DIGITAL FIELDS HACK

October 27th-28th 2018, Tim WCap Bologna

Organized along with TIM, Olivetti, CREA Ricerca and Coldiretti – Campagna Amica, Digital Fields Hack was a non-stop technology and innovation marathon, where participants developed solutions for agrifood and smart agriculture sectors, through IT data development projects and user experience improvement for new agroinnovation models.

HACK FOOD 4 CLIMATE CHANGE

October 12th-14th  2018, Fiera di Roma

The Future Food, strong from its experience with other 20 hackathons organized around the world, proposes inside Maker Faire Rome an event in collaboration with MIUR. A hackathon that will unite students in a creative 3 days marathon that will stimulate entrepreneurship, team work, the capacity of prototyping and validating an idea with the objective of sensibilizing the new generations regarding Food and Climate Change topics, by creating new solutions.

TURNING AN ABANDONED ISLAND INTO A SUSTAINABLE FOOD HUB

June 29th-30th 2018, Chongming Island, CHINA

The Food Innovation Program delegation went to the EAST CHINA NORMAL UNIVERSITY to meet a group of students working on a design project to create a food design school in an island near Shanghai. Chongming Island, to the east of Shanghai, is a large sand island in the estuary of the Yangtze River, with beautiful shoals, wetlands, and dense forests.
How might we turn an abandoned island where just farming and fishing is allowed info a food innovation and sustainable farming center with food design school, farm to table programs, training centers and a food museum? After having visited the Chongming island, our researchers work hand-in-hand with students from the design school at the China Eastern Normal University to imagine how this island could be transformed into an inclusive and sustainable one with food at its core.

SMART CITIES WORKSHOP

June 18th 2018, 3×3 Lab Future (Tokyo, JAPAN)

The researchers from the Food Innovation Program visited the 3×3 Lab Future and discussed around the topics of smart farming and agriculture, the future of food services and sustainability practices with some of the most relevant actors in the food industry in Japan.

HONG KONG FOOD HACKATHON

June 15th-17th 2018, Hong Kong PolyU

During Food Innovation Global Mission, Food Innovation Program delegation took part to Hong Kong Food Hackathon, an initiative by PolyU (Hong Kong Polytechnic University) in which different kind of professionals discussed about new business ideas for foodtech world (combined with digital and IoT opportunities), during three days of brainstorming moments and company workshops.

HACK WASTE ROME

May 25th 2018, Mercato Nomentano di Roma

The teams that took part to Hack Waste Rome were innovators, startuppers and Dot Academy students. They worked together in order to accelerate the innovation projects that won the MiPAAF call about food waste limitation, re-use and re-cycle, in terms of mindset, validation and communication.

FUTURE OF PROTEINS

May 21st 2018, Kmzero (Valencia, SPAIN)  

The delegation from the Food Innovation Global Mission, conducted a design thinking sprint around the future of proteins. Grupo Martínez hosted in Kmzero (their open innovation hub) examples of innovative projects they are incubating. The researchers from the Food Innovation Program conducted a workshop with the challenge how might we envision a future of proteins that is sustainable and attractive.

MYGRANTS DAYS

December 16th-18th 2017, Scuderia – Future Food Urban Coolab

The core of this event was a hackathon hosted in Scuderia, organized to develop solutions that can ease migrants integration processes. In order to create a synergic and inclusive context, this initiative has involved 50 talents from Mygrants community, university students and innovation experts. MygrantsDays was a celebration for Mygrants community, that hosted 9 different regions-based participants who joined the 3-days hackathon.

CHOCOTHON DC (WASHINGTON)

October 23rd-25th 2017, Impact Hub Washington

A two-days hackathon, held in Washington DC, to co-create and co-prototype hardware and software tools that can deal with cocoa growth issues and challenges. The participants, divided into different teams, had the opportunity to show their solutions to the most popular cocoa companies, to governments and to NGOs that are currently working on sustainable cocoa supply chains during the yearly meeting of the Global Partnership for Cocoa Foundation, held on the 25th of October.

HACK FOR GOOD (BERGAMO)

October 11th-12th 2017, Università degli studi di Bergamo

During Agrogeneration, event hosted by G7 Agri in the city of Bergamo, we launched Hack For Good, a hackathon promoted by CREA Ricerca Institute, MIUR and MiPAAF. More than 100 students took part to the initiative in order to redesign the whole agricultural supply chain future.

HACKATHON GIARDINO DELLE IMPRESE (GOLINELLI)

We wanted to take part to Giardino delle Imprese, the Fondazione Golinelli project all based on business communication and team-working, following the “Scuola informale di cultura imprenditoriale” classes, workshops that counted on 60 young talents under 18. We also had an important role taking part to lessons and to a hackathon that involved the students in finding new business solutions.

Waste 2 Value

Taking inspiration from Expo Milano, “Waste 2 Value” was the hackathon in which 40 partecipants (among students, startuppers and researchers) dealt with food waste issues.
Among them there were also Food Innovation Program (FIP) talents, mentors, experts, companies and policy makers. Their goal? Creating models, solutions and prototypes, all food waste-based!

Waste Hackathon

Chocothon

Zero Hunger Games
